Beautiful shot. Very eloquent.

Thank you very much. An awfully sad scene, but one I was pleased to capture.

A drinker AND a smoker….two of the world’s worst habits. He seems to be dressed cosily enough, so he doesn’t look like a destitute. Too sloshed to know when enough is enough?

No, clearly not a wealthy man, but pretty sure he’s not without a home. It was taken right next to Asakusa’s off-course betting complex, so he was quite possibly drowning his sorrows.

AND a gambler?! Yes, I suppose you are quite right, more’s the pity. Not to be judgemental or anything…to each his (or her) own!

Yes, he’s got all the vices. In for a penny, in for a pound I suppose.

Jesus, that’s sad.

Yeah, very. One of those times when it’s nice to get the shot, but at the same depressing to have come across it.

You’ve got it all wrong. Let’s listen in and see what’s really happening in this photo…
Man: “Now, Bottle, I’ve told you before: if you insist on getting liquored up and hanging out in back alleys, you’re going to run into trouble.”
Bottle: “Ohhhh, Man!”
Man: “I mean it, Bottle. You need to know when to say ‘enough’s enough’ and quit while you’re ahead. If you’re not careful, you could be picked up by the wrong sort of person and used all up. It’s just not worth it. And before you know it, you could wind up right on the street, feeling drained and lifeless, with a bad taste on your lips and trying to explain yourself to complete strangers.”
Bottle: “Blah-blah-blah, Man. I’ve heard it all before. I like who I am and I’m not changing for you or for nobody!”
Man: “Ohhh, Bottle…”
